How We Make Fire Starter Rolls
Five stages from wood wool delivery to sealed cartons. Each stage runs to a written work instruction held on the factory floor.
- Raw material sourcing Kiln-dried pine wood wool is received against a written fibre length and moisture specification, one batch record per delivery.
- Wax impregnation The wool is submerged in molten paraffin held at a set temperature, then drained to the target wax-to-wood ratio.
- Roll forming Impregnated wool is weighed to its grammage, pressed and rolled to the ordered length and diameter.
- Quality testing Samples from each batch are lit, timed for burn duration and checked for weight, wax content and water exposure.
- Packaging Rolls are counted into bundles, sealed, labelled with the batch code and packed to the case count on the order.
Quality Control Points
Four checkpoints per order. Records are kept by batch number and can be sent with the shipment documents.
- Incoming material inspection Fibre length, moisture content and wax grade are checked against the purchase specification before the batch is released to the line.
- In-process checks Wax temperature, roll grammage and roll dimensions are recorded at set intervals on each shift.
- Finished product testing Burn time, ignition after water exposure and package weight are tested on samples pulled from each batch.
- Pre-shipment audit Carton count, label data and batch codes are reconciled with the order, and loading photos are kept before the container is sealed.
